Queen Helene Finesse

In the tradition of my favorite street poets, when laying down my cultural history, I wrote what I saw and lived on the block, with little embellishment needed. I grew up in the South Bronx and spent my teen years on Fordham Road. It was a colorful if impoverished existence. The words "layaway" and "hand me downs" made up a vital part of my upbringing. I always made it look good.
Back then, walking the block was like the illest catwalk you could flex on. You had to bring style and attitude to survive.
